History is in the making! The Soap Box Derby is coming to Prosper. This event has been held at various locations around the country since 1934 and 10,000 people fill the stands at Derby Downs in Akron each year to see the world champion crowned. Now Prosper, TX will be host to one of those events. We are filling out the special permits for the city, please contact Dudley Raymond, draymond@prospertx.gov, the director of parks and recreation to voice your support of the event. I will soon be searching for volunteers for the event. Primarily we will be needing a starting gate and finish line built that will used year over year, so please contact me if you have the technical skills to help with that. We are shooting for one year from now for our first event which may be a Rally rather than the full on race. Two years at the latest to have the first full event.
Can you feel the excitement? I foresee this being one of the top local events in the country.
